This policy is intended to set out the values, principles and procedures underpinning Scotts Project Trust’s (the Trust) approach to complaints.
The Trust works on the principle that if a Service User wishes to make a complaint or register a concern it should be easy for them to do so. It is the Trust’s policy to welcome all feedback and look upon any complaints as an opportunity to learn, adapt, improve and provide better services.
The Trust always aims for the very best quality of care and will not be satisfiedwith anything that falls short of this. It takes every possible action to prevent abuse/harm from occurring, but in the event abuse/harm does occur the Trust deals with itas promptly and effectively as possible.
This policy applies to everyone employed by the Trust, including trainees, as well as to agency staff (together referred to throughout this policy as “Staff”). While self-employed contractors, trustees and volunteers are not entitled to the protections under the Public Interest Disclosure Act they will be treated by the Trust as Staff for all purposes of this policy on a voluntary basis.
Scotts Project Trust understands that it must always act in an open and transparent way with service users and their representatives. This is reflected within the Statement of Purpose for each of its Services and in all of the Trust’s relationships with its service users and others involved in their care and/or support.
This policy shows how Scotts Project Trust (the Trust) involves as partners the relatives and friends of people receiving care at St Peter’s Row and the Supporting Independence Service. It is in line with the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 to provide safe, person-centred care that takes into account the wishes and preferences of people receiving care.
Scotts Project Trust is committed to conducting its business in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Scotts Project Trust (the Trust) is committed to the Government’s policy to reduce the risk of terrorist attacks (known as CONTEST) through its Prevent strategy. It understands that government policy is based on four main assumptions.
Scotts Project Trust is aware that successful health and safety management is based upon five key principles, namely, a suitable and sufficient policy, organisation, planning & implementation, measuring performance and reviewing performance.
In any outbreak the Trustrecognises that it must manage risks of infection being spread by Staffor visitorsconstantly coming in and going out of St Peter’s Row, the Day Services and the Supporting Independence Service, and must act to reduce those risks with proportionate risk control measures.
